English Courses in Jakarta

Our Team:

Hello,

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Douglas Shaw and I am a Native born American. I have been living in Indonesia for 12 years now and have been actively teaching English to all ages (ages 2 – 65 years old). My life has been very full and blessed, living in America I was working with my Father being a Diesel Mechanic. Throughout this time I was always thinking that this was what I was to do, to be a mechanic/ truck driver but deep in my heart I kept feeling that I was empty. Until I came to Indonesia for reasons of meeting someone on the computer in which is my wife. This is a story of finding that princess without kissing the frog.

When I came to Indonesia in September 2003 was the best thing for me, I now know that it was my destiny that brought me to Indonesia. I continued to follow my destiny to become an English teacher.  I have worked very hard to become the teacher that I am today. I have taken the steps to become certified in TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, IBT and through my teaching experience

I have grown to be a much stronger person and a person that always strives to be the best that I can be. Teaching is not just a job to me it is a profession that is for a life time. I have been blessed to have the ability to teach all ages and to love people and to understand people.

I believe when I am able to go into a classroom whether in – school, In – Company or just private it is an opportunity for the student/ students and I to go on a journey together.

I have a strong passion for teaching, helping those around me, counseling people when they need it and sharing our lives together.

My Golden rule to life is:

If you believe you can then you can but if you believe you cannot then you cannot.

My hobbies are reading books and of course writing teaching material.

My experiences have been in a very broad range, teaching with different schools Ef Pejaten for an example. In- company classes like LG Phillips, PLN , Bank Niaga and teaching medical with the nursing universities in Bandung , schools in Bogor to name a few places in which I have taught.

I am a very humble and patient person, although being very disciplined when it comes to education and my classes, I let the students say if I am a good teacher or not.

I do like to have an atmosphere that is positive and fun. Many students have given me the nickname “Mr. Bean” because I do enjoy what I do.
